Local and Campus Resources

The Store has been made possible by the generosity of hundreds of volunteers and donors. GW students may join The Store student organization, which manages and operates the food pantry. GW students, alumni, faculty, and staff may volunteer with The Store during such service days as the Welcome Day of Service, Veterans Day of Service, and MLK Day of Service. Individuals may also support the Store through donations, canned goods (soup, tomato sauce, etc.), other non-perishable food items (pasta, rice, oatmeal, cereal, and peanut butter are in high demand), school supplies, personal hygiene items, and interview attire.

Volunteer with The Store

The Store would not be able to operate without the valued help of our volunteers and The Store’s student organization that recruits, trains, and manages our volunteers! Volunteers stock shelves, clean the Store, pick up and deliver food from our partners, and manage the overall upkeep of the Store. For a more involved individual volunteer experience, consider applying for a store manager position. Store managers assist with our bi-weekly stocks of the store, and take on more of a leadership role than the regular weekly volunteers. We welcome both student organizations and groups of students to participate in volunteering! For more information about volunteering at the Store, please email us at [email protected].

Join the Student Org

In addition to volunteers, The Store is also run and managed by the student organization. The student org is run by an executive board, but includes all volunteers, shoppers, store managers, and any interested community members. We hold regular General Body Meetings, and all current or prospective student org members are welcome to come. Executive board applications open in late November or early December and anyone is welcome to apply, regardless of past involvement with The Store. For more information about joining the Store’s student organization, please email us at [email protected].

Donations

Without our community’s generous support, The Store would not be possible. We are extremely thankful for all of the support and welcome additional donations. If interested and able, below are a few ways in which you can give back to The Store and help food insecurity.
