Hello, again!

Can you believe it is November already! Where has the fall semester gone?!?! Here on campus, we celebrated Halloween and GW Late Night's Boo Bash. We are now in daylight savings time, and while there was a surprisingly warm start to November, it is back to sweater weather today. As the fall season wraps up, we like seeing our students hanging out in Kogan Plaza with friends and enjoying the scenery.

While you will have to wait a little while to partake in a "D.C. Fall," there's one thing you won't need to wait on when you come to campus in January…grabbing breakfast or lunch at the iconic GW Deli. Every GW student has an order for the GW Deli, a locally owned convenience store in the heart of campus. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but step inside, take a bite, and you'll know what all the buzz is about. Watch the GW Deli documentary for yourself, and plan your first trip (and breakfast sandwich order) accordingly.

We cannot wait to share more #OnlyatGW moments once you are on campus. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected].

☑️ REGISTER for Spring 2023 New Student Orientation by December 21.

In-person orientation will be held on Friday, Jan. 13.

☑️ SUBMIT Your Photo To Set-Up Your GWorld Card

Your GWorld Card (GW's official ID card) grants you access to campus including all academic buildings, the library and your residence hall. You will also "swipe or tap" your card to enter the dining halls to eat, unlock your residence hall door, and print your term papers at printing kiosks.

  • Submit your own photo by December 15 so that your GWorld card can be generated and be ready to pick-up when you arrive in January.
  • If you are moving into the residence hall, you will get your GWorld card during your check-in. If you are commuting to campus, you will go to the GWorld office to pick-up your card.

☑️ UPLOAD COVID-19 Vaccination Documentation to the Medical Portal

GW requires all members of our community to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including a booster shot, or have an exemption on file. To be fully vaccinated means completing your first booster five months after two doses of Pfizer or Moderna and two months after one dose of Johnson & Johnson. Students are not required to complete the second booster that is currently recommended for individuals over 50 or who are immunosuppressed.

  • All new, incoming first-year students must upload their vaccine documentation by Nov. 18.
  • If you are not in compliance with GW's vaccine and booster requirement by Nov. 18, you will not be able to register for your spring classes on your designated registration day. If you attempt to register, you will see a hold on your account. The hold cannot be cleared until your vaccination documentation is submitted, reviewed and approved. This can take up to one week.

☑️ UPLOAD Other MANDATORY Medical Immunizations to the Medical Portal

The District of Columbia Immunization Law requires that all enrolled students under the age of 26 provide proof of certain immunizations. If you are under the age of 26 you are required to provide proof of required immunizations by Jan. 1, 2023. You will be able to register for your spring 2023 classes on Nov. 18 without an immunization health form on file. However, a hold will be placed on your account to prevent registration in future semesters if all required immunization records are not submitted to the medical portal by Jan. 1.

Coming Soon...

Here's a preview of some of the actions you will be able to start soon. Our campus partners will send information directly.

🛏️ On-Campus Housing Registration: Starts Nov. 15

Registration for on-campus housing opens on Nov. 15. That day, via a separate email titled, Next Stop, GW: Your Home at GW, our Campus Living & Residential Education team will share info about the residence halls, residency requirements, and how to register for spring housing.

📆 Spring 2023 Class Registration: Starts Nov. 18

If you have not done so, we recommend speaking with your academic advisor

about what you are planning to take.

  • To prepare, watch the How to Register and Plan Ahead videos.
  • Registration Pro-Tip: Registration Is Not a Race. Having multiple browsers open in an attempt to 'game the system' to be first when your registration window opens will block you from being able to register. If you are logged into multiple browsers you will know as when this message appears: Please log out completely from all browser sessions and try again.

💵 Tuition, Room & Board Invoices: Nov. 23

If you have registered for classes and housing by Nov. 21, the Student Accounts Office will send your spring 2023 invoice for your tuition & fees and room & board (if applicable) on Nov. 23. If not, you will receive an invoice after you complete your spring 2023 class registration..

  • Payment will be due by the first day of classes (Jan. 17) unless you sign-up for a payment plan.
  • Discuss the invoice with a parent/family member who has permission to access your Student Account eBill and make payments on your behalf. You are the only one who can grant Authorized User access to your Student Account.
