Welcome Week

Welcome Week at the George Washington University provides opportunities for students to connect, build relationships, learn about resources, and build a community at GW as they start a new semester. Welcome Week events showcase the many resources GW has to offer for academic success and student support, as well as opportunities for involvement at the Mount Vernon Campus, in the performing arts community, sustainability activities, multicultural student organizations, international student activities, student organizations, and more.

First Night

First Night is an annual celebration that brings the community of new students together - essentially, it's a late-night carnival and dance party with free food and lots of fun!

"Go to all of the Welcome Week events! My first year I went to the Comedy Show which was hosted by Program Board and that inspired me to want to join Program Board to be part of creating events for the student body.”

Welcome Week 2020

Every year, we centrally promote more than 80 unique events hosted by university departments and student organizations. We are still working on curating the fall 2020 schedule of events - be sure to check back at the end of the summer for full details!
