Weeks of Welcome at the George Washington University provides opportunities for students to connect, build relationships, learn about resources, and build a community at GW as they start a new semester. Welcome events showcase the many resources GW has to offer for academic success and student support, opportunities for involvement, and more. Be sure to follow @StudentLifeatGW on Instagram to get connected to the community, and for the latest event updates!

Join the university community in celebrating the history and cultural expressions of the Latinx Community. This year’s Latinx Heritage Celebration theme “¿Dónde Está Mi Gente?” aims to educate and enrich the GW community on Latinx heritage through a series of programs, presentations, and events throughout the months of September and October.
Make change with the Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service! We support GW’s drive to make a difference by providing short term and long term community service programs and events, over 70 service learning courses, and social innovation programs and grants. The Nashman Center also supports the GW community's civic engagement and participation through GW Votes. Want to serve on your own? Check out GWServes, our community engagement platform, and explore service opportunities that interest you.
GW has one of the most politically active student bodies in the nation. GW Votes is a nonpartisan coalition of students, faculty and staff that promotes voter registration and participation among our students. 57.9% of GW students voted in the 2016 election, compared to 50.4% of all Americans. Our goal is to see 65% of students vote in 2020!
TurboVote makes sure students always know when elections are happening and have the information they need to vote with confidence.
GW students can sign up to receive election reminders, get registered to vote and apply for their absentee ballot.
Check out our TurboVote 101 videos on YouTube if you need any help with your account or registration.
"Go to all of the Welcome Week events! My first year I went to the Comedy Show which was hosted by Program Board and that inspired me to want to join Program Board to be part of creating events for the student body.”

Share Your WoW Events
We encourage student organizations and campus partners who are hosting events during Weeks of Welcome (August 31 - October 2) to share their WoW events with the community. There are several ways to share your events.
Adding Events in Engage
This option is recommended for student organizations. You can add your events directly to Engage. Be sure to use the "Weeks of Welcome" category for your events. If you need assistance with adding your events to Engage, please contact Org Help.
Adding Events to the University Calendar
The University Calendar is a great tool, and one that we use to create the automatic feed of upcoming events. You can submit your event online. In order for your event to populate on our Weeks of Welcome events feed, you must add "Weeks of Welcome" as a Tag in the event submission webform.
Sharing Events on Social Media
Follow @StudentLifeatGW on Instagram for weekly event spotlights, and be sure to tag us in your posts and stories so that we share your WoW events too! Events that are added to Engage and/or the University Calendar will be prioritized for promotion on our accounts.
Contact Student Life
If you need support troubleshooting Engage or the University Calendar, please contact Student Life and we will be happy to assist!
