Your Orientation Experience

Students Admitted for the Spring Semester

GW's New Student Orientation experience is comprised of three mandatory parts:

Pre-arrival Engagement (October-January)

Starting in October, students and their families will receive consistent communication about next steps, opportunities, and what to expect from Orientation, as well as online modules to complete.

Pre-Orientation Online Module (POOM)

Students should complete all sections of the POOM prior to attending Spring Orientation. Sections 1 and 2 of the POOM help students prepare for class registration - do not wait to start this module!

Spring Orientation

After students move in, students will participate in Spring Orientation on Friday, January 13, 2023 to learn more about GW, make connections with peers, understand the services and support systems at GW, and more!

As you embark on this new journey, we are excited to share this year’s orientation theme with you! Empowering Community: Reflection & Resilience offers a framework for every new student to begin their college experience with a necessary perspective to successfully transition into the GW community. While resilience can often be seen as bouncing back from challenges, we will explore the ways resilience can also offer profound personal perspective and growth.

We look forward to engaging with you and our community about the ways every student will be empowered to build capacity for resilience within a safe learning environment.
