Fee Waivers

If the cost of a trip is a financial barrier or concern to you please fill out the form below to request a fee waiver. Please do not register on the sign-up portal if you are interested in using a fee waiver. TRAiLS is proud to reserve one slot on almost every trip for a fee waiver participant, so your slot will not be given up. If a trip is not eligible for a fee waiver, it will be clearly stated at the end of the trip description on the sign-up portal linked above. The TRAiLS allocation process for fee waivers is a weighted lottery system based on prior engagement on TRAiLS trips in order to remove as much bias as possible.

Adventure Breaks

TRAiLS is very happy to announce that we will be running two trips over spring break this semester! The cost of the trip will cover the cost of transportation between campus and your destination (including flights, rental cars, etc.), food, and all reservations and permits needed for the trip. During the registration process for these trips we will gather dietary preferences and restrictions in order to develop a meal plan to accommodate the needs of the group. TRAiLS will provide group gear for these trips including tents and cooking necessities. If you do not have the personal gear necessary for the trip (sleeping bag, sleeping pad, internal frame backpack, etc), TRAiLS offers free gear lending on trips. The registration form will also ask what gear you may need.

The registration link for each trip is linked to the title. It will contain an info sheet with a detailed trip description, including the itinerary, a map of the trail, and more relevant information. Please read through this information sheet in its entirety before registering for the trip.

Due to the nature of planning for spring break trips, these trips are not eligible for cancelation once you have been successfully registered and paid. Please be prepared to fully commit to the trip before you register.

Land Acknowledgement

GW TRAiLS trips take place on Piscataway and Nacotchtank (Anacostan) land. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced removal from this territory, as well as the many harms that continue today. We honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous peoples who have resided in this region and served as stewards of the local land and waterways and those who are still connected to the land on which we gather. We acknowledge that much of what we know of the United States has been made possible by the labor of enslaved Africans, their descendants, and their ascendants who suffered the horror of the transatlantic trafficking of their people, chattel slavery, Jim Crow, and other harms that continue today. We are indebted to their labor and their sacrifice, and we must acknowledge the tremors of that violence throughout the generations and the resulting impact that can still be felt and witnessed today.
