Dear GW Undergraduate Student:

Whether this is your first time registering for classes at GW or you’ve participated in this process multiple times, we are reaching out to share information about new resources, and helpful reminders to help you have good experience as you participate in the upcoming spring 2023 registration period.

FIRST PRO TIP!  In prior registration periods, students often were kicked out of the registration window for unknown reasons.

  • The CAUSE: having multiple windows/browsers/devices opened at once.
  • The SOLUTION: Do not open more than one browser at a time during the registration process.

Continue on for more information, tips and registration reminders:

🗓️  REGISTRATION DATES
Your registration date is based on the number of earned credit hours. This includes transfer credits and any GW credit hours completed, earned, and posted to your academic record. Please use your unofficial transcript located in GWeb (not DegreeMAP) to determine your total earned credit hours.

Registration begins at 9 am on each of the following dates:

  • Monday, Nov. 14: 90 or more credits earned
  • Tuesday, Nov. 15: 70 or more credits earned
  • Wednesday, Nov. 16: 50 or more credits earned
  • Thursday, Nov. 17: 30 or more credits earned
  • Friday, Nov. 18: 0 or more credits earned

🆕  NEW RESOURCE: Plan Ahead Feature

This year, we are launching a new tool - Plan Ahead - that when used ‘ahead of time’ helps to speed up the registration process.

Save time at Registration by:

  • Building up to 5 different plans of classes for your upcoming registration period
  • Using one of the plans to directly register for all of your classes when your registration window opens. Creating a plan does not guarantee that a seat in the course will be available at the time of your registration.

To access the Plan Ahead feature, follow the instructions:
  • Log into GWeb
  • Visit the Student Records and Registration Menu
  • Click on the Registration Menu
  • Select Plan Ahead

Also, check out this how-to video to learn how to use Plan Ahead.  Note: the video is not closed-captioned, view transcript

✅  OTHER HELPFUL TIPS AND REMINDERS

BEFORE NOV 10: Check for Holds
Be sure to review your GWeb account to ensure you don’t have any financial or administrative holds that may prevent you from registering for your classes. If you do have a hold, reach out to [email protected] for assistance in clearing that hold.

ON YOUR REGISTRATION DAY: Slow & Steady is the Key to Success
Registration Is Not a Race. Having multiple browsers open in an attempt to ‘game the system’ to be first when your registration window opens will block you from being able to register.

Open only one active GWeb session in one browser across all your devices. Meaning, if you are logged into GWeb on your phone, don’t try to also log-in on your laptop. Multiple sessions at the same time, even if on different devices, will limit your ability to successfully access the registration pages.

If you are logged into multiple browsers you will know as these error messages will appear:

  • Please log out completely from all browser sessions and try again
  • Using multiple browser sessions may generate error messages.
  • If you see these messages, please follow the prompts and log out of all devices and log back into GWeb on one browser on one device and then continue with your registration.

SPRING 2023 GRADUATES: Apply to Graduate
After you finish registering for your final semester, be sure to apply for graduation! Instructions on how to apply can be found on the Registrar website.
