Student Support Resources

At GW, we aim to create a community that cares for each other. The CARE Team fosters this goal by creating a pathway through which students who may need additional support can be identified and referred to the most appropriate services. Through the CARE Team, students are given the support they need to persist and succeed at GW and beyond.

Disability Support Services (DSS) at GW recognizes disability in the context of diversity.  Established in 1978, Disability Support Services works collaboratively with students, faculty and staff across the campus to foster a climate of universal academic excellence, while also promoting disability culture and GW’s broader diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Coordinated by GW Libraries and Academic Innovation (LAI), the Academic Commons is a “one-stop-shop” for academic resources and services across the university. Academic Commons provides myriad services and opportunities to academically support students, ranging from peer tutoring, writing centers, research assistance, workshops, developing effective study skills, and more.

The International Services Office at the George Washington University facilitates international educational exchange through its services and programs.  It serves as the primary administrative, programming, and advising office for the GW international community.

The George Washington University's Military and Veteran Services is committed to providing our student veterans, dependents, and military personnel with excellence in service through timely and accurate benefit processing, high-quality customer service, and supportive community-building activities.

GW is committed to fostering the safest and most welcoming community for all students. It is the responsibility of each person within the GW community to create an environment in which others can thrive without fear of hate or bias. Students who have been the target of, or who witness, a hate or bias incident are encouraged to report these incidents to make the university aware of these incidents. Other methods for reporting bias-related incidents are also available.

Founded in 2017, The Store is a student-run food pantry at the George Washington University that is managed by The Store student organization and the Division for Student Affairs, providing resources and support for students living with food insecurity. Recently, the awareness of this need has increased on college campuses as students make hard choices about how to spend their limited resources. Our mission is to address student need at GW by offering food and other resources to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Title IX prohibits sex-based discrimination in all aspects of education. This means that you are entitled to an educational environment free from sex-based discrimination, including sexual harassment or assault, and that the university must work diligently to prevent and eliminate sexual harassment and assault in the community. The GW Title IX office provides resources, education and training, and support to students, staff, and faculty.
